Questions

Before you
apply.

Do I need a PTIN to apply?

Yes. Anyone who prepares federal returns for pay needs a current PTIN, and the application asks for yours. If you do not have one yet, you can apply for it online at IRS.gov before you apply here.

Do I need my own EFIN?

Tell us in the application whether you have one. We go over how filing works for your role at the interview.

Do I need to be an EA or CPA?

No. Credentials are welcome and we note them, but a current PTIN and solid preparation skills are what the role needs.

Is the role really remote?

Yes. You work from home or any private workspace in the United States, with reliable internet and a webcam.

Can I apply in Spanish?

Yes. The whole application, every email and the status page are available in Spanish. The office serves clients in both languages, so bilingual preparers are especially welcome.

Can I save my application and finish later?

Yes. Your answers save as you go. Choose "Save and finish later" and we email you a link that reopens your application on any device for 30 days.

How is my application reviewed?

An AI-assisted review organizes your answers and highlights what our team should look at. It never sees your name, contact details or protected characteristics, and it never decides. A person reads every application and makes every decision.

How do I check my status?

Open the application status page and enter the email you applied with. We email you a one-time sign-in link; no password needed.

What happens to my information?

Your application is stored securely and seen only by the office's hiring staff. If you are not hired, we keep it for up to 24 months and then remove or anonymize it.
